The SILC room unites a vast range of different musical genres. Soul, Funk, R&B, Jazz, Blues, Latin, Folk, Acoustic and Slo-House all blend to create a softer, smoother and slower tempo dance experience.
The finest choreographic minds on the UK dance scene have collaborated to devise a unique syllabus that compliments all of these musical styles, whilst at the same time enhancing your technical capacity as both a lead and a follow.
Whether you wish to advance your dancing to a more sophisticated and professional standard, or you simply wish to gain insight into the basic skills that compliment slow-tempo partner dance, the SILC curriculum will provide you with the appropriate resources and training.
Our ethos is built around;
- Technical Proficiency: To elevate already capable dancers to a higher level of understanding with regards to lead and follow.
- Versatility: To provide an inclusive dance style that can compliment any genre of slower tempo musical accompaniment.
- Musicality: To develop expression, reaction and musical interpretation.
We are not defined or restricted by particular footwork patterns or rhythmic structures like many other dance styles. Silc is a skill-driven but artistically innovative, contemporary dance style which simultaneously develops both technical mastery and creativity.
Twelve simple movements that build into four smooth flowing sequences. The Foundation Syllabus focusses on achievable and freestylable techniques that allow both the lead and the follow to adapt their connection for slower music. Focussed around 3 key concepts, this syllabus alone can provide dancers of any ability with sufficient material and enough confidence to enjoy a night of slower tempo music.
